The Isnard family story

Family emblematic of Grasse town for a thousand years.

Knights
In the Middle Ages
The Isnard are descendants of a knight family, gentry from a seignory near Vence.
Our family, the Isnard de Malvans, has been involved in Grasse affairs since the 12th century including Bertrand Isnard Consul of Grasse and then Isnard Isnard Commandant of the Order of the Knights Templar.

Tanners
Modern times
Grasse expands and becomes a very active walled city, in the 15th century tannery is in full growth and the Isnard are traders in tannery.
But, beginning of the 18th century, the local economy evolves and the crisis of hides trade requires an industrial conversion through the soap and perfume business.

Perfumers
1740
The Isnard family takes part in this industrial conversion with Antoine Isnard, trader in perfumery in 1740.
1826
Léopold Isnard, husband of Madame Maubert, creates the « Isnard-Maubert » perfume factory. The labels of perfume bottles and some machines of the factory are presented at the MIP, Musée International de la Parfumerie, in Grasse.

Producers of flowers
1900
The Isnard cultivate plants for the perfume industry, the main perfume plants at the time are the Centifolia rose, Grasse jasmine, violet, tuberose and lavender.

Today
We pay tribute to our history, perpetuating the family traditions by combining the production of flowers and the creation of perfumes. All our perfumes are produced in Grasse and every creation is composed of a selection of local flowers that you can discover in our perfumer’s garden.
